Below is a guide to the age of your vehicle using the registration number given to your vehicle by the DVLA. Remember that this will show the date of registration and not the date of manufacture and a private plate will not help to age the vehicle.

New Style Number Plates

Issued by the DVLA in England, Scotland and Wales from 1 September 2001 onwards.
The age identifier is the third and forth digits eg
AB51 ABC. 01 was never issued as the prefix system was still in use. Remember in the example above the vehicle is a "51 plate" and not an "A reg".
